Art & Dance - All Grades

DGK understands the importance of art and cultural programs in developing the critical minds of our students.  We offer a rich cultural experience for all students from Nursery through 8th Grade.

Dance and Art play an integral part in this educational social development.  Our Greek dance program in grades K-8 includes dances from many regions.  The history behind the different dances, how they were created and how they have progressed, teaches our children a sense of unity and community as the students dance their circle.  These traditions provide a sense of cultural identity, self-confidence and social involvement with peers.

In addition to dance, Art plays an important role in our creative and self-expression.  Our Art curriculum is comprised of a series of art skills and foundations such as drawing, painting, sculpting, repousse (the technique of hammering metal), along with construction and recycled projects such as mobiles, stabiles, and clay.  Artists such as Picasso, Georgia O’Keeffe, Vincent van Gough are studied to replicate these artistic techniques.
